Death of a Choir Stalwart

Sadly, we have to record the passing of Raymond Aspin, a choir stalwart of over 20 years standing and possessor of one of the finest bass voices you are ever likely to hear. Here follows a personal appreciation of Ray by Ken Hollas

Concert at St' Thomas's

DESPITE THE ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, THIS CONCERT WILL GO AHEAD THIS EVENING.

WE ARE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU, OUR AUDIENCE, AND HOPE YOU ENJOY THE CONCERT.

Mayor of Pendle's Charity Concert

The Arion and Nelson Civic Ladies Choir will join forces in a concert to benefit The Mayor of Pendle’s Charity. It is quite a few years since the two choirs have performed together and they are looking forward with great anticipation to hearing each other perform in the splended acoustic of St Thomas’ Barrowford and to combining in some well known joint items.

Despite the adverse weather conditions which affected the size of the audience, the concert went ahead and was thoroughly enjoyed by choirs and audience alike, to the extent that a further joint concert is planned for the Arion’s ‘Music in May’ in May 2014 (watch this website for details). Both choirs were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, and £700 was raised for the Mayoress’s Charity Fund.
