Choir Chairman, Tony Young, presented his sixth annual report and remarked that even though choir membership is rather low, he still remains a non-singing Chairman.

The statistics for the past year, 1st July 2017 to 30th June 2018 are as follows:-

The choir fulfilled 13 engagements during the year, 2 more than last year, but sadly 3 of the engagements were for funerals.

There were 2 social events during the year, an open day at the home of Frank Smith and the Annual Dinner held at Nelson Golf Club in September.

The Choir Committee met on 7 occasions during the ...

CONCERT ON 21ST JULY 2018 AT CHRIST CHURCH

The concert, held at Christ Church Nelson, before a small but discerning audience certainly lived up to expectations. Guest artist BEN JARVIS  gave a brilliant display of cornet/trumpet playing. Ben is soon to continue his musical journey by starting his course at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in September and those who have heard him recently have no doubt that he is a star of the future. The choir also performed admirably in the choir-friendly acoustic of Christ Church and the concert as a whole proved to be an uplifting experience.

A thoroughly entertaining event at St Peter's Burnley involving 3 choirs, Pendle Youth and Children's Choir who were hosting the visiting C4 Choeur from France as well as the Arion. The C4 Choeur were in scintillating form with a wide variety of music ranging from traditional French songs to rousing items from Korea, South Africa and Brazil.

The whole event was enjoyed by a capacity audience which included the Mayor of Pendle and Pendle's MP Andrew Stephenson.

A MESSAGE FROM JULIE

I am writing to say how incredibly proud I was to be part of the Nelson Arion MVC on Wednesday at Derek Burnett's funeral. The choir lifted the service for Derek from what could have been a 'run of the mill' crematorium service to a beautiful tribute to a friend and colleague. I hope everyone enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with Derek's family and I am sorry I had to rush straight off. My Dad is actually due to come out of hospital at some point today. (It was good to see Juie's father Frank in ...
