The Arion took part in a very successful concert on Friday 30th November, sharing the platform with Pendle Childrens and Youth Choirs. This concert was in aid of the Mayoress of Pendle's charity and profits from this event will be invested in musical activities for young people in Pendle and on other small local projects. There were no less than 6 mayors present at the concert and they heard a vibrant concert with all participants in great form, a demonstration of what the musical life of Pendle has to offer. The concert was started by John Shaw singing 'Old ...

Sadly, we have to report the death, on 20th September, of another long-serving and loyal member of the choir, JIM TATTERSALL who died following a freak accident whilst on holiday in Llandudno. Jim was aged 86 and was still an active member of the choir and had been a member for 43 years. The Arion were privileged to sing at his funeral on 1st October at St Luke's Church Brierfield and performed one of Jim's favourites 'Lily of the Valley' as well as Schubert's 'Sanctus'. The second tenor section has lost a good member and we send ...
Choir Chairman, Tony Young, presented his sixth annual report and remarked that even though choir membership is rather low, he still remains a non-singing Chairman.
The statistics for the past year, 1st July 2017 to 30th June 2018 are as follows:-
The choir fulfilled 13 engagements during the year, 2 more than last year, but sadly 3 of the engagements were for funerals.
There were 2 social events during the year, an open day at the home of Frank Smith and the Annual Dinner held at Nelson Golf Club in September.
The Choir Committee met on 7 occasions during the ...
The concert, held at Christ Church Nelson, before a small but discerning audience certainly lived up to expectations. Guest artist BEN JARVIS gave a brilliant display of cornet/trumpet playing. Ben is soon to continue his musical journey by starting his course at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in September and those who have heard him recently have no doubt that he is a star of the future. The choir also performed admirably in the choir-friendly acoustic of Christ Church and the concert as a whole proved to be an uplifting experience.
The choir participated in a concert on the day of the Football World Cup Final and were gratified that an enthusiastic audience turned up to hear them.
